Product Description

SODIUM SILICATES:

Sodium silicate is obtained by fusing soda ash and high purity silica sand in open furnaces at temperatures of 1400 degrees celsius. Sodium silicates vary in ratio of alkali to silica and concentrations giving diverse properties in a wide range of applications. Silicates are odorless, non-flamable and environment friendly water based dispersions. Liquid silicates are low-cost and can be stored at room temperature. Bulk quantities can be shipped in drums. Many problems that arise in chemical and industrial processes can be solved with the help of the varied properties and functional characteristics of soluble Silicates.

ZS Chemicals offers a wide range of sodium silicates ranging from 1.9 ratio (Sio2:Na20) to 3.2 ratio. Glass briquettes are also offered to large volume customers.

USES OF SILICATES:

Besides being less costly, Sodium Silicates have many useful properties which are not shared by other alkaline salts. This makes sodium silicates a widely used chemical in various industries. Silicates are used in industries such as:

  • Soaps & Detergents
  • Packaging, Construction
  • Metals
  • Mining
  • Textiles
  • Petroleum
  • Ceramics, and
  • Water Treatment.
  • Sodium silicate is “generally recognized as safe” (GRAS Status) by the FDA for use as an adhesive in the manufacturing of food packaging materials.
